Faith in Action new volunteer training set July 24 in Longville

Faith in Action for Cass County is offering a new volunteer training from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville.

Potential volunteers will learn about the program policies and procedures, dealing with diversity and emergencies, and the fun of making new friends in their community.

Volunteers are able to choose how and when they want to volunteer. Faith in Action provides coordination services, liability insurance, mileage reimbursement, and ongoing training and support for all registered volunteers.

Volunteers must complete an application process, including training and background checks.

A locally supported, nonprofit charitable organization, Faith in Action for Cass County provides nonmedical, neighborly assistance to seniors, the disabled and people in need throughout Cass County. Faith in Action volunteers provide transportation, friendly visiting, respite for caregivers, light homemaking and chores, and basic home repair, and they build accessibility ramps.

"It's the greatest 'job' I've ever had," said Lorraine Enos, a Faith in Action volunteer driver from the Hackensack area.
