Medicare patients throughout Minnesota have a new option when it comes to getting health coverage - EssentiaCare. The Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Medicare Advantage plan combines Essentia's network of physicians, advanced practitioners, clinics and hospitals with UCare's comprehensive medical coverage.

EssentiaCare will serve Minnesotans eligible for Medicare, who currently receive or who may choose to receive their health care through Essentia Health care system facilities. They must live in the 10-county service area of Aitkin, Clay, Becker, Carlton, Cass, Crow Wing, Hubbard, Itasca, Lake and St. Louis.

The new PPO is designed to reward its members with opportunities to improve their health. There will be two coverage options - grand and secure. Enrollment will occur between Oct. 15 and Dec. 7, which is the fall open enrollment period for Medicare Advantage plans.

For information on benefits and pricing, Medicare patients can call 855-432-7027 or 218-722-4783 or visit www.EssentiaCare.org .

The PPO enables enrollees to freely choose the doctors and hospitals they want to visit; however, costs for services received at and from in-network Essentia Health medical staff and facilities will be lower. Enrollees also can see out-of-network doctors, specialists and hospitals at a higher rate than Essentia Health medical staff and facilities.
