Election 2020: Newcomer files for PR-B School Board seat

City, township, school board filings open through Tuesday, Aug. 11

Three people have filed for three open seats on the Pine River-Backus School Board: newcomer Roger Hoplin and incumbents Chris Cunningham and Dave Sheley.

The filing period opened Tuesday, July 28, and runs through Tuesday, Aug. 11. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 3. The filing fee is $2, paid to the city, township or school office clerks.

(Elect 4): Kimberly Bolz-Andolshek (incumbent); Susan Mathison-Young (incumbent); Curtis Johnson (incumbent); Amy Sjoblad.

Mayor (elect 1): Tamara Hansen (incumbent).

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.

She started as editor of the Lake Country Echo in July 2006, and continued in that role when the Lake Country Echo and the Pine River Journal combined in September 2013 to become the Pineandlakes Echo Journal. She worked for the Brainerd Dispatch from 1992-2006 in various roles.
