Pequot Lakes Community Education offers the following upcoming events.

  • Discover Magic, Grades 3-6: 1-4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, July 6-9, Pequot Lakes High School choir room and theater. Fee: $165. Class requires a minimum of six children and has a maximum capacity of eight.

Hudson, master magician from the Twin Cities Magic Academy, will teach students to learn to cut a lady in half, give friends super hero powers and make invisible objects appear in a magic pencil pouch, among other tricks.

In this course, students will learn the eight secret principals that make magic tricks possible while discovering real secrets to becoming a magician as each lesson reveals an important life skill for building confidence and communication skills. Each lesson includes a custom magic prop, a secret file folder and a secret word to unlock bonus videos in the online video vault.

Social distancing practices will be in place.

  • Science, Technology and Engineering: Pequot Lakes High School. Fee: $99, which includes supplies. Class has a maximum number of nine per camp.

COR robotics instructors along with experienced students from both high school and collegiate level robotics teams will conduct camp.

Social distancing practices will be in place with no materials shared.

  • Drone Programming for grades 4-9: 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Wednesday, July 13-15.

Students will learn to program and fly at the same time. The programmable drone can be programmed using basic entry level block based coding or more advanced text based coding to perform various challenges throughout the camp.

Students will need a laptop that is Bluetooth enabled; iPads will not work. No programs will be downloaded onto the computer. If a student doesn’t have access to a device, contact Andrea Nelson after registering at anelson@isd186.org.

  • Patriot Running Club Summer Camp for grades 3-8: 5-6:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, July 13-16, Pequot Lakes High School track. Fee: $30.

The Patriot Running Club invites students entering grades 3-8 (based on 2020-2021 school year) to join varsity athletes and coaches for a cross country and track running camp. Runners of all abilities are encouraged to participate as running games, stretching techniques, running form, team building, field events and workouts will be segmented into a variety of experience levels.

Campers will conclude the event with the Patriot Running Club Fun Run Race. Participants must wear gym shoes and bring a water bottle. T-shirt and shorts are recommended.

Instructors are Autumn Thull and varsity runners.
