  • Fit Beginnings Group Fitness: 4-4:45 p.m. Mondays, starting Jan. 20 for six weeks, Select Therapy, 409 Barclay Ave. Fee: $90.

This class will teach students to start where they are and use what they have to perform effective exercises and stretches led by physiotherapists. Instructors Amanda Kronen and Emily Deno will use evidence-based medical fitness programs to improve endurance, strength and flexibility through fun routines, music and people.

Cost includes six weeks of classes and individual assessment by a physical therapist. Bring your own water bottle and yoga mat or towel. Sign up through PR-B Community Education.

  • Woodworking Made Easy 101: 6:30-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at My Workshop Space, 1279 Roosevelt Ave. in Pine River. Fee: $20.

Students will observe a nightstand being made and learn the safe use of different equipment and tools for creating a woodworking project. Students will learn time-saving tips so they can enjoy their newly created masterpiece quickly instead of spending weeks or months on construction. Instructor is Alan Wiener.

  • Mess Makers: 3:13-5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, Pine River-Backus Elementary School Room 34. Fee: $5.

Students will measure and mix ingredients, stirring to change solids into gels and explore color, shape, smell and temperature differences.

  • Needle Felted Feather Wall Hanging: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, Serenity Now Yarn & Alpaca Shop. Fee: $18.

Learn the basics of needle felting using felting needles and wool roving. Students will make a needle wall hanging with options for embellishing their own piece. Space is limited to six people. This is a beginning experience level class under instructor Renata Remington.
