• Memory Quilt (T-shirt quilt): 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, April 16, 23 and 30, Pine River-Backus High School Room 46. Fee: $45.
A memory quilt (T-shirt quilt) is a great way to preserve shirts from walks, rides, sports, activities, theater and other events in your life or the life of a loved one. This class includes a little work at home.
Participants will determine the size of the quilt depending on the number of shirt logos included. Linda McNamara is the instructor. Contact the instructor at email@example.com for a materials list.
• Raising Monarch Butterflies: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, Pine River-Backus High School Media Center. Fee: $5.
This class is intended to inspire and inform participants about the joy of raising monarch butterflies, watching their life cycle and then releasing them. Participants will learn what plants are good for monarchs, their migration and what supplies are needed to raise monarchs.
Instructor is Becky Stanton, who over the last four summers has released 145 monarch butterflies. Sharing the experience with friends and family has been one of the many highlights.
• Spring Oils-Make It, Take It: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, Foothills Christian Academy lunch room, Backus. Fee: $15.
Go green with homemade natural products to help efforts to get homes chemically free using
Young Living Essential Oils. Participants will make room spray, bug spray, homemade bleach and more.
Bring an empty bottle of a favorite cleaner to compare with the cleaner the class will make and an empty box to take items home.
Instructor is Kim Hamson.
• Tech Class (lights and sound operator): 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24. Fee: free.
PR-B tech staff will teach participants to mix audio with the sound mixer and run basic lighting for plays and other performances that may be held at PR-B School. This class is open for students and adults (grades 8 and up). After completing this course, participants will be eligible to operate the lights and sound equipment for future PR-B productions.
For those selected, a hands-on experience will take place Monday-Thursday, April 29-May 2, and a performance will be Friday-Sunday, May 3-5.
