Pequot Lakes High School students in Brian Alt's welding class now have a sculpture featured in the Bemidji Northwest Minnesota Foundation Sculpture Walk under the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

The sculpture, named "Krog with Dog," depicts a large man walking a dog and is one of 20 featured within the Sculpture Walk.

Alt challenged his students to go through the scrap barrel of metal (pieces that had been used in practicing the different welds) and create an original sculpture. Krog stands over 7 feet tall, while his companion, Dog, has gruff characteristics.

The sculpture was awarded $300, and was honored with the other sculptures at a banquet at the Northwest Minnesota Foundation in Bemidji. "Krog with Dog" was the only student-created sculpture. It now sits on the corner of Second Street Northwest and Midway Drive South in Bemidji.
