Halloween candy will be collected at Nisswa Smiles from 4-6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2.
Each child is eligible to receive $1 per pound up to five pounds for all unopened, uneaten candy. Children who participate will also be entered in a contest to win one of two new Kindle Fire 7-inch tablets.
The candy will be shipped to troops overseas via Operation Gratitude, a nonprofit organization based in California. Paper and writing utensils will be available for anyone who would like to create a letter or card for service members.
As a veteran, Dr. Luke Waln appreciated the care packages he received while overseas.
