Construction is complete on a yurt outdoor classroom at Eagle View Elementary School.
The school’s yurt - a more modern, permanent version of the classic Asian structure - was constructed behind the school over the course of last week, though concrete was poured the week before. After the frame was built, early in the week, insulation and a cover were installed.
“We are thrilled to complete the yurt classroom at Eagle View and look forward to using it with students soon,” Eagle View teacher Deanne Trottier said. “We are very thankful for all of the support from area organizations and individuals which made this unique learning opportunity possible.”

The yurt will serve as a home base for environmentally focused STEM classes for elementary students. It will also be used for school events involving music and art, along with other special events in the future.
Eagle View Elementary School received a $10,000 grant from Compeer Financial for an outdoor classroom space, including the yurt.
