Dirt bike crash results in serious injury

Deputies and responders arrived on scene and learned the dirt bike struck rocks in the trail causing the machine to crash and the operator fell from the machine onto the rocks.

BACKUS — A 42-year-old Frazee woman was seriously injured Saturday, May 1, when the dirt bike she was operating crashed in the Foothills State Forest, Spider Lake Recreation Area in rural Backus.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was called at 12:11 p.m. to the crash involving an off-highway motorcycle. Deputies and responders arrived on scene and learned the dirt bike struck rocks in the trail causing the machine to crash and the operator fell from the machine onto the rocks. The woman was treated at the scene with serious injuries and transported to a Fargo, North Dakota, hospital.

The Minnesota DNR conservation officers, Backus Fire, North Memorial Health Ambulance and Air Care assisted the sheriff’s office at the scene.
