Crow Wing County to begin roadway improvement projects

The 2020 to 2024 Highway Improvement Plan was adopted by the Crow Wing County Board of Commissioners on April 14, 2020. The purpose of the plan is to provide information to the public regarding future road improvements.

The Crow Wing County Highway Department scheduled about $12 million worth of roadway improvements for 2021.

A brief summary, by category, is listed below and includes county highways and roads, and improvements to Unorganized Territory town roads in the First Assessment District:

Reconstruction

  • County Highway 13 from Highway 371 to County Road 137: Complete roadway reconstruction with detour route.

Resurfacing or rehabilitation

  • County Highway 1 from Highway 6 to the east county line.

  • County Highway 15 from Highway 371 to County Highway 1: Temporary detour during bridge improvements.

  • County Highway 24 from County Highway 23 to County Highway 8.
  • County Highway 43 from Highway 84 to County Highway 56: Joint project with Cass County.
  • County Road 107 from Highway 371 South to Highway 371 North.

  • County Road 109 from County Highway 3 to County Highway 19.

  • County Road 128 from Highway 210 to County Highway 59.

  • First Assessment District roads: Ahrens Hill Road, Miles Circle, Garrett Lane, Ponds Edge Trail and Woida Road.

Other projects:

  • County Highway 23 bridge replacement at the Nokasippi River crossing: Road closed during construction.

  • Annual pavement markings: Countywide striping of roadways.

  • Annual seal coat program: Surface treatments to selected county and First Assessment District roadways.

The starting date for the majority of the projects is dictated by spring weather conditions and contractor schedules.
