Crow Wing County offers land use workshop April 23

The Crow Wing County Land Services Department would like to help landowners make wise choices that protect the county’s natural resources.

Crow Wing County will offer a land use workshop regarding land use ordinance revisions, residential stormwater management requirements, land use permit regulations and requirements, and more.

“This workshop is an opportunity to learn and understand rules and regulations for developing and improving property within Crow Wing County,” Jacob Frie, environmental services supervisor, said in a news release.

The workshop will take place virtually from 8:30 a.m. to noon Friday, April 23, via Microsoft Teams. A link will be emailed to those who are registered prior to the event.

The workshop is for residents of Crow Wing County and contractors working around lakes in the county, but all are welcome to attend.

Agenda items include:

  • Residential stormwater management requirements in the county.

  • Building and buying in floodplain areas (Federal Emergency Management Agency regulations).

  • Dirt moving and other shoreland rules or regulations.

  • Public hearing process overview.

  • Geographic information system interactive map review.

  • Land use ordinance revisions.

  • Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District/Department of Natural Resources/other grants.

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.
