The Crow Wing County Land Services Department’s Household Hazardous Waste Program is now open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday year-round.
County residents can bring in all types of household chemicals for disposal, such as cleaning products, pesticides, herbicides, paints, stains and automotive chemicals. This service is free.
In the past, the HHW program was open two days per month from May-October, and then open by appointment-only from November-April.
“We are moving to a one-stop-shop model where folks can now bring HHW materials as well as recyclables, garbage and other items for disposal all at the same time,” Ryan Simonson, environmental services supervisor said in a news release.
Upon arriving at the county landfill site, residents must stop at the office. The attendant will discuss the items to be disposed of and provide directions to where the HHW facility is located. All loads coming to the landfill must be covered to ensure roadways are not littered with debris. Uncovered loads may be subject to additional fees.
