Crosslake School hires dean of students

The Crosslake Community School Board on July 16 agreed to hire Stacy Bender as dean of students for the school's online courses for the new school year, which began Wednesday, Aug. 27.

The Crosslake Community School Board on July 16 agreed to hire Stacy Bender as dean of students for the school's online courses for the new school year, which began Wednesday, Aug. 27.

Bender, coming to Crosslake from Minneapolis, has roughly 19 years of experience in education and nearly 10 years of experience as a learning manager, dean of students and director of student services for online high schools in Minneapolis and Chisago City.

She earned her master's degree in school counseling in 2006 from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and is certified in the state as an English teacher and guidance counselor until June 2017.

In other action, the board:

• Agreed to renew the school's current health insurance coverage with Resource Training Solutions and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

• Named Kemp's the school's official milk distributor and set milk prices for the school year at 30 cents per carton.
