In a May 5 story about the Minnesota Design Team coming to Crosslake, Patty Norgaard, president of the Crosslake Economic Development Authority, said the following quote attributed to her was misinterpreted, misunderstood or taken out of context: "I did not realize that we really are a tourist destination, and the Whitefish Chain of Lakes is our key to our success."
Rather, Norgaard said, she has been promoting tourism for over three years, recognizing tourism plays a big part in the future of Crosslake.
Norgaard was responsible for starting the Light Up the Dam Project three years ago, and the dam has been lit for three consecutive years, each year with more lights. As a result, Holiday in the Park was organized. Norgaard was also responsible for bringing the Heartland Symphony Orchestra to Crosslake to promote Crosslake at holiday time.
And the EDA financed a marketing video to promote Crosslake.
