Brainerd Chamber announces new board members

The Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the addition of three members to the Board of Directors.

Joel Clough manages the finance and accounting departments of Just For Kix and The Tee Hive. In addition, he is very involved in other operational aspects of the businesses. Joel is a graduate of CLC and SCSU. He is active in Brainerd Sports Boosters and is passionate about youth athletics.

"I am very excited to be joining the Chamber Board and work with all the wonderful people on it," Clough said.

Dr. Hara Charlier joined Central Lakes College as president in July 2016. Previously, Charlier served at Virginia Highlands Community College and Blue Ridge Community College. She holds degrees from Cornell, Miami University (OH) and Old Dominion University. She now resides in Nisswa and is actively involved in the community and schools.

"I'm excited to be appointed to the Board of Directors and to help promote the business community in our thriving region," Charlier said. "Central Lakes College has always revered our partnership with area businesses in our joint effort to build a healthy and successful community."

Mike Schwieters took over the managerial and operational responsibilities of Boyd Lodge, located in Crosslake, in 2010. He is a graduate of Pequot Lakes High School and St John's University. Mike is very involved in the community and sits on several boards including the Ideal Scholarship Foundation and the Linda Ulland Memorial Scholarship. He also serves on the Regional Tourism Group and Tourism Advisory Committee.

"As a board member for the Brainerd Lakes Chamber, I am looking forward to representing the Crosslake Community and the Tourism Industry," Schwieters said. "I hope to continue working towards creating a Regional Tourism Marketing Association that will promote our entire region of Brainerd, Baxter, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Crosslake and the Cuyuna Area."
