The Backus American Legion and Auxiliary will sponsor several events in conjunction with the community's annual Cornfest on Friday-Sunday, Aug. 7-9.
The Legion will kick off the weekend with a giant meat raffle at 5:30 p.m. Friday, followed by bingo at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 8, horseshoe and beanbag tournaments will start at 2 p.m. with 100 percent paybacks plus cash supplements for prizes. Horseshoe sign-up will begin at 1 p.m. and beanbag entries will be taken up to start time.
Saturday events will conclude with free customer and cash drawings at 9 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 9, the Frankie Lamb Band will return to the Legion from 2-6 p.m., playing classic country and pop, old time and swing. Featuring 25 great prizes, the Auxiliary Cornfest Raffle drawings will take place at 3 and 4 p.m. Winners will be posted in the clubrooms and at backuslegion.com.

Also Sunday, the monthly Auxiliary breakfast will be served from 7:30-11:30 a.m., including a choice of French toast or pancakes, fried or scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, juice and coffee for $7 for adults and $4 for children under 7. Proceeds go toward active duty troop, veterans, community and other Auxiliary programs.
