Following are updates not yet reported in the Echo Journal print edition:

School events

Pequot Lakes Schools have canceled the following spring events: Festival of the Arts (originally scheduled for Thursday, April 16), prom (originally scheduled for Saturday, April 25), Day of Caring (originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 6) and Relay for Life (originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 13).

Parkinson’s group

The Brainerd Lakes Area Parkinson’s Disease Support Group meeting originally scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at Lord of Life Church in Baxter is canceled. For more information, call 218-829-4017.

Lakes Area Music Festival

The Harmonious Harp, a Lakes Area Music Festival program originally scheduled for March and then for May 17 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa has now been canceled.

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.

She started as editor of the Lake Country Echo in July 2006, and continued in that role when the Lake Country Echo and the Pine River Journal combined in September 2013 to become the Pineandlakes Echo Journal. She worked for the Brainerd Dispatch from 1992-2006 in various roles.

She covers Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Lake Shore and Crosslake city councils, as well as writes feature stories, news stories and personal columns (Vogt's Notes). She also takes photos at community events.
