Crash sends 16-year-old to the hospital

A 16-year-old girl was attempting to turn left onto Highway 371 when the vehicle she was driving struck another car, sending it into the ditch where it rolled.

A 16-year-old girl was attempting to turn left onto Highway 371 when the vehicle she was driving struck another car, sending it into the ditch where it rolled.

The girl, whose name and city of residence wasn't released on the Minnesota State Patrol's incident report, was driving a Ford Escape and attempting to turn left to cross the highway's southbound lanes. The crash was reported at 9:16 a.m. at Highway 371 and Ojibwa Road north of Brainerd. Road conditions at the time were dry.

The other driver, Theresa M. Barr, was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Suburban. Barr, 45, from Pequot Lakes, was not reported injured.

The teenager was taken to Essentia Health-St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The Nisswa Police Department, Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office and Brainerd Fire Department assisted at the scene.
