MENAHGA-A dog was given oxygen by first responders and later showed no signs of injury from fire or smoke after being rescued from a house fire Wednesday, May 15, in Menahga.

The Wadena County Sheriff's Office received a report of a house fire at 9:10 p.m. on Elm Avenue Northeast in Menahga. The renter of the residence arrived home to find the house filled with smoke.

The Menahga Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The fire department located the renter's dog inside the residence. They rescued and then treated the dog.

The Menahga Police Department, Park Rapids Fire Department, Menahga First Responders, Tri-County Ambulance and the Minnesota State Fire Marshal Office assisted at the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, the sheriff's office reported.
