The Young Performers Theatre Camp has been reconstructed this year to enhance youth experience in the performing arts. Performance activities and musical theatre are essential elements in youth development; these experiences enhance learning, confidence and team-building. Students are given opportunities to explore a wide spectrum of musical theatre components including voice, movement, costumes, scenery, staging and more. Modeled after the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre summer camp, each participant will participate in an individual act of their choice along with a group performance the last day. These individual acts may include singing, dancing, interpretive reading or small group acts. The teen participants will again write their own original play to perform on the last day. The instructor will help in identifying age appropriate songs and readings, which each participant can begin rehearsing prior to the camp. Participants may perform their own selection with approval by instructor. Camp shirts and snacks will be included for participants in both sessions, and a pizza party will be provided the last day prior to the show.
Registration is now open for Kid Konnection, a summer child care for students who will be in kindergarten - grade 6 in the 2018-19 school year. Care is available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday starting May 31. The program will be closed July 4 and on mandatory staff training days in August.
