Pine River-Backus Family Center: Faith fuels our work
Faith: 1. Belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of someone or something. 2. Loyalty or Allegiance. (Webster's II Dictionary)
This definition defines the attitude of our volunteers. They believe their work has intrinsic value to the mission of the Pine River Area Food Shelf, value to the clients we serve and value to the community we serve. Knowing there is value in their work is knowing they are making a difference.
The volunteers' faith in our mission to serve hungry families is what makes our program strong. Without their faith and commitment, we could not do the work we are doing. Our work is fueled by volunteer faith.
This faithfulness extends to the businesses, clubs, churches and individuals who support our food shelf's mission to feed hungry families in the Pine River and Backus area (18 townships included). Our Soups & Sweets is coming up on Oct. 22 (mark your calendars!) and our faithful partners for providing soup this year are The Corner Store, Bites Bar & Grill, Ole & Lena's Eats & Treats and the Cozy Cottage Café. Please thank them when you stop in for a bite.
Sherry Finch will again be roaming the streets to find businesses, clubs and private individuals who want to donate to our silent auction. The silent auction is the part of our event that brings in the most money. Please welcome her and share your ideas for great donation items.
It's only through faith that we can have hope for a better future. People uniting to fight the injustices; people lifting up their neighbors; people using their leadership skills to promote positive changes in our community ... All things are possible when faithful community servants bring hope into our future.
Please drop by. The coffee pot is on. Call 218-587-4292.
