Joseph Eric Wallin, 73, rural Pequot Lakes, reportedly drowned Monday night, July 15, on Little Pelican Lake, according to the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Scott Goddard said in a news release that at approximately 9:27 p.m. July 15, his office received a call of a missing boater on Little Pelican Lake. It was reported that the 73-year-old Pequot Lakes man had gone fishing earlier in the evening. His pontoon was later located unoccupied with the trolling motor running.

Crow Wing County Water Patrol arrived on scene and launched a boat to search the lake. At approximately 12:25 a.m., Wallin was located floating on the surface of the water and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Breezy Point, Crosslake, Nisswa and Pequot Lakes police.
