Laura Mick, of Riverside Assisted Living Apartments in Pine River, had the birthday of a lifetime Monday, July 27, sitting outside as friends and family paraded through the parking lot waving and honking their horns in celebration of her 100th birthday.
The celebration seemed to energize her.
“I feel fine,” Mick said. “I was kind of tired yesterday, but like when we came back from the party yesterday after supper I was walking more like myself.”
It was a hot day, but Mick had a shady spot to receive her drive-by guests as they wished her a happy birthday and ate birthday cupcakes.
Mick and family rang in the celebration early Saturday, July 25, at an outdoor party at the Pine River Dam complete with music by Frankie Lamb of Frankie Lamb's Country Band.
“It was nice. They had the place all decorated,” Mick said. “I was just shocked when I saw him (Lamb).”
Mick noted she was born at precisely 11:30 a.m. all those years before, and just after the end of Monday's parade celebration and before lunch.
“My dad was out in the field working,” she said. “He got so restless, he must have known things were happening in the house. He came in and got to see the new baby.”
