Hackensack Hub to host garden classes

Four of five classes are free to attend

The Hackensack Hub will host free garden classes starting Tuesday, March 16.

All classes are 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Hub next to the post office in Hackensack. The classes will be:

  • March 16: Shade gardening, lily of the valley, ajuga, wild ginger, hostas and coral bells.
  • March 23: Eradicating lawn weeds, creeping Charlie, etc.
  • March 30: House plants and clemetis.
  • April 6: Espalier, training plants.

Freewill donations are welcome and appreciated.
There will be another class Tuesday, April 20, at Country Garden Center on Highway 371 in Backus. This class has a $17.50 material fee, which pays for a basket, soil, additives and maintenance until the end of May. Plants chosen by the customer are at an extra cost.

Organizers ask participants to wear face masks and participate in social distancing.
