Crosslake Presbyterian Church parishioners and the community donated school supplies for teachers to use in their classrooms at Crosslake Community School and Pequot Lakes Middle School, which they recently delivered.

Supplies collected include pencils, pens, dry erase markers, facial tissue, Clorox wipes and composition notebooks, as well as around $1,000 in Target gift cards for teachers to buy other needed items.

Crosslake Community School Director Todd Lyscio said one of that school's needed items was a pair of shoes. Pequot Lakes Middle School Principal Mike O’Neil said a middle school teacher gave away more than 450 pencils last year before she quit counting.

"I’m overjoyed by the response of the congregation and community," Pastor Tony Oltmann said. "The church only bought $400 of gift cards; the other $600 or so came in randomly. How awesome is that?"

The congregation wanted to help teachers spend less of their own money on school supplies.
