Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir to perform in Brainerd
The 50-voice Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir will perform a concert and hymn sing at 7 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd.
A freewill offering will be accepted.
High school-aged singers from a three-state region auditioned for this summer camp program of Concordia College, Moorhead. The ensemble will perform a variety of music from classical choral works to folk songs and spirituals. Singers will join audience members in the pews for a rousing hymn sing.
The concert, part of the choir's seven-day tour of Minnesota marking the choir's 50th anniversary, includes performances in Albert Lea, Brainerd, Grand Rapids, Mahtomedi, Moorhead, Morris, Rochester, Spicer and St. Cloud.
The Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir began in 1969 and has grown to include more than 1,400 alumni who have shared sacred music in approximately 150 churches throughout the state. MASLC, founded by conductor Mark Aamot and then directed by Thomas Rossin for 26 years, is now under the artistic direction of Michael Culloton. The choir provides young people with a musically challenging choral experience and an opportunity to grow in their faith that concludes with a seven-day tour of church performances.
