Highway 371 open house

Residents, visitors and motorists in the Brainerd lakes area are invited to an outdoor open house to get the latest updates and details about the Highway 371 four-lane expansion project in Nisswa, Pequot Lakes and Jenkins.

The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, June 15, at Trailside Park in downtown Pequot Lakes, alongside other vendors participating in Pequot Lakes Market in the Park. The Minnesota Department of Transportation booth will be located at the Pequot Lakes Welcome Center.

PR-B Relay for Life

The Pine River-Backus Area Relay For Life will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, June 16, at the Pine River-Backus High School track with food, silent auction, kids games and pie-throwing event. The opening ceremony will be at 7 p.m. Cancer survivors will be introduced and kick off the event with the first official lap around the track.

Roger Hoplin will sing the national anthem and Alison Collins, a 10-year breast cancer (Stage 4) survivor, will be the Hope speaker.

The luminary lighting will take place at dusk. Send the name of a loved one to tgrewe@tds.net to be included in this ceremony. Donations can be accepted online at www.cancer.org . Select "Join Relay For Life," enter ZIP code 56474 and search for a participant or team and make a donation.

Church fundraiser

St. Vincent de Paul will have a rummage and bake sale fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, in the St. Alice Education Building, across the street from the church in Pequot Lakes, with all proceeds going to those in need.
