Pine River-Backus high school announces fall musical cast

Students will perform "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical"


Pine River-Backus has announced its cast for the fall musical.

The cast for "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical " includes:

  • Alice/Luanne: Katelyn Denton
  • Ivy/Betty: Mara Adams
  • Teddy: Skyler Rugroden
  • Elma: Keylah Kendrick

This production is directed and costumed by Jen Anderson. Kate Davis is Vocal Director and Ben Kinser will conduct the PIT Orchestra. Student Director is Tiara Crannell. Choreographer is Teresa Hamp. Lighting and sound designers are Brent Passarella and Mike Shetka.
Performances will be held at Pine River-Backus High School November 12 and 13 and 7 p.m. and on November 14 at 2 p.m.. Tickets will be available at the door 30 minutes prior to show time. Tickets for adults are $8 and $5 for students and seniors. Children under five are free.

"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical "is based on the Play by Barbara Robinson with book and lyrics by Jahnna Beecham and music by Malcolm Hillgartner. The production is produced by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing. ( )

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.

She started as editor of the Lake Country Echo in July 2006, and continued in that role when the Lake Country Echo and the Pine River Journal combined in September 2013 to become the Pineandlakes Echo Journal. She worked for the Brainerd Dispatch from 1992-2006 in various roles.

She covers Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Lake Shore and Crosslake city councils, as well as writes feature stories, news stories and personal columns (Vogt's Notes). She also takes photos at community events.
