It has been over 10 years since Pequot Lakes High School has produced a musical.

"The play is going to be so great," said Pierson. "Other cast members and I have bonded over this and I think you can really see that through our characters."

"The play has brought me out of my comfort zone in a lot of different ways," Blaeser said. "I have met a lot of new people and I feel that it is making me more confident. When I first auditioned, I never thought that I would enjoy it as much as I do now."

Bauer added: "It's definitely a fun and rewarding experience. It's a shame that people don't do it more. You make so many friends and learn new skills in the public speaking department. With 'The Wizard of Oz' especially, it's just so cool to cover such an iconic movie, and I'm excited to show it off onstage."

"These kids have amazing abilities," said Mathison-Young. "I could not have asked for a better cast for this show - everyone is just perfect for their roles. They really want to do their best and for many this is their first show or at least their first musical."

The Wizard of Oz musical is based on the well-known and well-loved 1939 film. It follows teenager Dorothy Gale from her home in Kansas with her Aunt Em, Uncle Henry and dog Toto through her journey in the magical Land of Oz. The musical uses the Harold Arlen and E. Y. Harburg songs from the film and includes some new songs and additional music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and additional lyrics by Tim Rice. More familiar songs include "Over the Rainbow," "We're Off to See the Wizard," and "The Merry Old Land of Oz." Property of Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc. New York, New York.
