The Lakes Area Music Festival kicks off its sixth season with the annual Community Concert, featuring local instrumentalists and vocalists, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, and with Sommermusik at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, both at Tornstrom Auditorium in Brainerd.
All performances are free.
The Community Concert will feature ensembles of various sizes, including Ava Figliuzzi and Hannah Stehling, violinists, and Sophie Stubbs, cellist; Christopher Fogderud, trumpet, Sarah Fogderud, trombone and pianist Cathy Taylor; and local violinist and Miss America finalist Rebecca Yeh.
Festival directors John Taylor Ward and Scott Lykins will give a lecture at 6:30 p.m. The first half of this program will feature young performers Abigail Dueppen, Jennifer Panara and John Taylor Ward. After intermission, Jonathan Magness and Chloe Fedor, violins; Samantha Rodriguez, viola; Scott Lykins, cello; and Gregory DeTurck piano, will perform.
