Grassroots Concerts welcomes a return performance by Ellis at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 6, in Nisswa at the Live Well Nightclub and Coffee Bar.
The season-ending concert will showcase her latest acclaimed recording, 2016's "The Guest House," her first studio album since the birth of her daughter in 2010.
Her previous appearance on the Grassroots Concerts stage was in October 2010.
Ellis named her ninth full-length recording "The Guest House," inspired by the Rumi poem of the same name. Like the poem, her album covers the joys and pain of life and loss, inviting them all in as welcome guests.
She has earned several songwriting awards and honors, including Top Five awards at the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriting Contest, the Telluride Troubadour Contest, and the Kerrville Music to Life Songwriting Contest. She also won the award for best Female Singer/Songwriter Album in the International Just Plain Folks 2009 Music Awards.
