Bluegrass band to perform Sunday at Longville church

The third Music in the Park event will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at the gazebo on the grounds of Salem Lutheran Church in Longville.

Minnesota Rock and Country Music Hall of Fame bluegrass band The Platte Valley Boys will perform new songs and old favorites.

The band has entertained audiences all over the Upper Midwest for nearly 40 years. The band's latest CD is "Some Old - Some New: The Platte Valley Sound," recorded in July 2013.

The band includes banjo player and band leader Ron Colby; Scott Stebbins, mandolin and lead and tenor vocals; Tony Andreason, guitar and lead, tenor and baritone vocals; Catie Jo Pidel, fiddle and tenor vocals; Ross Willits, bass and bass vocals, tenor and high baritone vocals.

Admission is free, but freewill donations are appreciated. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic food. In case of inclement weather, the performance will be held inside the church.
