Two authors will sign copies of their books from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Turtle Town Books and Gifts in Nisswa.
Jodi Schwen is author of "Northern Comfort: The Musings of Jacqueline Pine Savage" (North Star Press, 2014).
Dale Mulfinger's latest book is "Back to the Cabin: More Inspiration for the Classic American Getaway."
Mulfinger is best known for his book "The Cabin: Inspiration for the Classic American Getaway," which has sold more than 165,000 copies and has consistently been the leading book in this category since it debuted in 2001.
In his latest, "Back to the Cabin," Mulfinger presents a new collection of 37 cabins that rekindles his love for this treasured American icon. Cabins speak of modesty, shared spaces for the camaraderie of family and friends, and an open, relaxed atmosphere.

Many cabins showcased in "Back to the Cabin" capture this iconic spirit, where life is simple and the mudroom is entry enough for all. Mulfinger offers fresh insight and seasoned strategies for the logic, utility and beauty of cabin design.
There are also some surprises along the way, with cabins that come packaged as kits, cabins built from recycled materials and other whimsical examples designed just for the fun of it.
Mulfinger is a principle of SALA Architects Inc., of Minneapolis, Stillwater and Excelsior. He is an adjunct architecture professor at the University of Minnesota, where he teaches a class on cabin design. Mulfinger has designed homes and cabins throughout North and South America.
"Back to the Cabin" is available in both hard and soft covers. To ensure a copy of his book, call Turtle Town Books & Gifts at 218-963-4891.
For Schwen, using the pen name "Jacqueline Pine Savage" allowed her to protect the innocent while writing about life up north. Some call it "outstate" or the "boondocks" - Jacqueline Pine Savage calls it home.
Either way, living in a rural community means finding the humor in northwoods living. In "Northern Comfort: The Musings of Jacqueline Pine Savage," read about the sacred holidays of hunting and fishing seasons, family bonding when the dogs get "skunked," and how to politely refuse the house tour when guests come a-calling.
Schwen is a native of the northwoods and lives in Brainerd. Her upnorth tales first appeared in Lake Country Journal magazine, of which she is now editor in chief, where she began writing under her "Jackypine" pen name. She has learned to survive and thrive in her rural lifestyle by keeping her wit about her. She uses stories from personal experience and daily life to encourage others to spark their own creativity.
