An estimated 1 in 5 adults over the age of 50 are affected by isolation, according to the AARP Foundation.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states older adults are at increased risks for loneliness and social isolation because they are more likely to face factors such as living alone, the loss of family or friends, chronic illness, and hearing loss. Crow Wing Energized and the Aging Coalition are working to combat isolation by providing opportunities for residents to improve their physical and mental health.
