Weekend featured art lovers crawling along Highway 84

The seventh annual Arts Off 84 Art Crawl on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30 and 31, featured eight sites from Pine River to Longville, touting such crafts as jewelry, paintings, baskets, leather portraits, pottery, wood carvings and so much more, as well as homemade foods such as fudge, jellies, jams and honey.

More than 90 artists and craftsmen displayed and sold their wares at the many sites just off Highway 84 and around Lake Ada.

Larry and Sherry Chapin, artists who live on Lake Ada, created the art crawl with a mission to promote the works of local and regional artists and to provide an art presence along scenic Highway 84 between Pine River and Longville.

That mission continues today under the leadership of Jan Stadtherr, who is not an artist but loves the arts. Many artists who participate in the art crawl assist Stadtherr, and the Chapins continue to open their lawn to artists to set up displays to show and sell.
