The Deep Portage Learning Center is hosting a series of events for the public throughout the month of July.
The events begin at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., and cost $7 for adults and $5 for children (12 and under), seniors and Deep Portage members.
Call (218) 682-2325 ahead to register. Same-day registrations are accepted. Be sure to bring water and appropriate outdoor clothing.

Come climb on our 35-foot rock wall. Great for all ages and skill levels. Deep Portage will provide harnesses.

Bog Ecology Hike
What is a bog and why are they so special? Learn all about this unique ecosystem and search for the unusual plants that reside there.
Thursday, July 25
Experience Deep Portage by water. We will begin canoeing on Bass Pond, portage over to Big Deep Lake to see the iconic eagle’s nest, and perhaps even paddle down the scenic Little Boy River. Deep Portage will provide canoes, paddles, and life jackets.
Tuesday, July 30
Learn the basics of using a map and compass to navigate through the woods, then go outside and practice those skills on our orienteering course! Deep Portage will provide compasses and maps. Be sure to wear good hiking shoes and long pants.
