'Steel Magnolias' auditions set in Pine River
Pine River-Backus Community Education will hold auditions for adults and older students for its spring play, "Steel Magnolias," from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, March 19 and 20, in the PR-B High School Choir Room.
A read-through will potentially be held Thursday, March 21.
Rehearsals will typically be held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings (organizers will work with schedules) with performances Friday-Sunday, May 3-5.

"Steel Magnolias" is a stage play by American writer Robert Harling, based on his experience with his sister's death. The play is a comedy-drama about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. The title suggests the "female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel."
