Pine River-Backus eighth grader Raena Hanneken won second place with "Minnesota's Babe (the Blue Ox)," her entry for the annual congressional art competition.

Eighth District Congressman Pete Stauber announced the winners of the contest, including Hanneken and first-place finisher Ivy Polecheck, a freshman at Barnum High School whose painting is titled “Relief from the Storm.” The contest received more than 20 entries from students across Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District.

Polecheck’s artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol alongside the winning artwork from other congressional districts across the country.
