The signup deadline is Wednesday, June 30, for area students in grades 6-12 to attend Central Lakes College’s annual Summer Engineering and Manufacturing Camp from July 5-9 at the college's Staples campus.

The camp runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day, with lunch provided each day. Transportation is available from the Brainerd campus.

The camp is a one-week adventure that gives students an opportunity to experience hands-on electronics, motor controllers, computer aided drafting, manufacturing machining and robotics automated systems.

Students build “battlebots,” all while gaining expert instruction in computer aided drafting and robotics automated systems. At the end of the week, students will compete in a battlebot competition, including an obstacle course, robot hockey and the battlebot demolition.

Awards will be awarded to first-, second- and third-place teams.
