Nearly 100 runners and walkers found their way to Trailside Park in Pequot Lakes on Saturday, Aug. 11, for the annual Dru Sjodin Purple Elephant 10K and 5K races.
The races saw participants run through the Paul Bunyan trail and the streets of Pequot Lakes.
Ed Shetka of Crosslake was the top finisher in the 5K race, completing the route in 21 minutes, 47 seconds. Jenni Hansen of Lindstrom was the top female finisher, completing the race in 25:05.

Russ Dylla of Shorewood took first in the 10K, finishing in 38:57, while Lilly Beck of Los Altos, California finished second overall and was the top female runner with a time of 47:16.
The Dru Sjodin Purple Elephant races take place to create awareness of violence against women and children while promoting personal health. Proceeds go toward the Dru Sjodin Foundation and a scholarship fund.
