Popup pantries to be held in Crosslake, Pine River

Popup pantry

Second Harvest North Central Food Bank will offer free food to anyone in need at a popup pantry from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Immaculate Heart Church in Crosslake. Participants, who should stay in their vehicles, will receive one food box per household.

‘State of the ERA’

The community is invited to a virtual presentation in honor of Women’s History Month called “The State of the ERA” at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 18, featuring Betty Folliard, the founder of ERA Minnesota and former three-term state representative. Register in advance at https://bit.ly/3pE5ZKU

Ruby’s Pantry

Ruby’s Pantry food distribution will be held from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, at New Life Community Church (formerly Faith Assembly of God Church) in Pine River. Line up at the Cass County Fairgrounds. Shares are $20.

Nancy Vogt is editor of the Pineandlakes Echo Journal, a weekly newspaper that covers eight communities in the Pequot Lakes-Pine River areas - from Nisswa to Hackensack and Pequot Lakes to Crosslake.

She started as editor of the Lake Country Echo in July 2006, and continued in that role when the Lake Country Echo and the Pine River Journal combined in September 2013 to become the Pineandlakes Echo Journal. She worked for the Brainerd Dispatch from 1992-2006 in various roles.

She covers Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Lake Shore and Crosslake city councils, as well as writes feature stories, news stories and personal columns (Vogt's Notes). She also takes photos at community events.
