Pine River homes, businesses are this year's Parade of Lights

Chamber seeks to keep city in the Christmas spirit in spite of other event cancellations; parade, bonfire, fireworks.

The Pine River Parade of Lights lighting contest will continue in spite of other event cancellations.

The contest has a category for businesses and a category for residences with several prizes in each category. Participants must register with the Pine River Chamber of Commerce in person or by emailing pinerivercofc@yahoo.com by Saturday, Dec. 12, to be included in the judging.

Judges will then view lights Wednesday, Dec. 16. Residents may also vote for a community choice award by visiting the chamber, commenting on Facebook, casting votes at the chamber email address or by calling 218-587-4000.

Unfortunately, due to restrictions and safety guidelines, this year's event will not include a parade, bonfire, fireworks, shop local event or Santa's lunch.
