Christine Linn was awarded the Minnesota Library Association Above & Beyond Award at the association's annual conference in September at Mystic Lake Center in Prior Lake. This award is given in recognition of recent contribution significant to the Minnesota library community.

Linn goes above and beyond in her efforts for library fundraising and in her support of the Pine River Public Library. She is the treasurer of the foundation/friend's board but does more than those duties require.

She set out to give one to two hours of time per week to the library as treasurer plus volunteering for fundraisers. However, Linn has been giving a minimum of 10 hours a week on top of time spent with family, running a growing farm and maintaining a job. Linn works to organize fundraisers by bringing new ideas, planning setups, reaching out to volunteers and spreading the word through social media. She plans the annual luncheon, sets the date, reserves a venue, selects meal choices, organizes itinerary and sets up and cleans up on the day of the event.

Linn is credited with bringing the annual Cupcake Wars fundraising event back to life. The event raises money for the Summer Reading Program. Linn was able to promote the event and bring in more bakers and voters, raising more than $350 in a short period of time.

Linn has a talent for helping bring new life to long-term fundraisers.
