60 years ago, Oct. 12, 1962

(Headline) Weekend marked by several break-ins in this community

A break-in at the Pine River Elementary School proved to be unfruitful for whoever the guilty party was for only records were kept in the safe that they tried to rob.

Al Abear of Pine River High School was named Thursday night, Oct. 4, 1962, to WCCO Radio's third weekly All-State Football Team of the Week for the 1962 Minnesota High School grid season.

50 years ago, Oct. 12, 1972

Highway accidents continued to take a heavy toll on Minnesota's highways this weekend. Two of the accidents were in our area, and were responsible for two fatalities and a number of critical injuries.

Rohn Stark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stark and a student of Pine River High School, was winner in the 13 year old division of the Ford Motor Punt, Pass, and Kick competition held at Staples last Saturday.
