60 years ago, May 4, 1962

Loy Pfeiffer, owner of the drug store in Pine River and Pequot Lakes, will soon have a new store building in Pequot Lakes.

Moving day for the Arrow Land Co. was Monday, April 30, when they began business in their new quarters, south of the NP Depot, on Highway 371 in Pine River.

50 years ago, May 4, 1972

(Photo) Terry Olin (right), proprietor of Olin's Rexall Pharmacy in Pine River, recently was named grand prize winner of Schering Corporation's national "Wisdom and Wonders Sweepstakes." His prize - a 1972 Ford Torino 500 - was presented to him by Everett Manwaring, sales division manager of Schering for the Minneapolis area.

Travis Grimler began work at the Echo Journal Jan. 2 of 2013 while the publication was still split in two as the Pine River Journal and Lake Country Echo. He is a full time reporter/photographer/videographer for the paper and operates primarily out of the northern stretch of the coverage area (Hackensack to Jenkins).
