A Sunday night attempt to burglarize the Johnson Lumber Company here was apparently thwarted by Police Chief Sorenson making his regular patrol at 3:45 a.m.


The Village of Backus has purchased the barbershop building on Main Street. The building has been vacant since the retirement of Roy Schuft.
