The Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes recently honored Ava Cappelle as its 2020 Youth Volunteer of the Year.

"She is an amazing young person with a great heart for helping others," the announcement on the Outreach Program's Facebook page says.

The Outreach Program of Brainerd Lakes is a humanitarian food aid organization located in Nisswa that packages different meals that go to area food shelves, community meal programs, schools, etc.

Cappelle and other community members arrived at the Nisswa facility Thursday, Nov. 19, to deliver a donation check to Tammy Larsen, director of the Lakes Area Food Shelf in Pequot Lakes; deliver a donation to The Outreach Program from proceeds of the Historic Hauntings event hosted by Nisswa Area Historical Society; and present The Outreach Program with clothing and quilts from the Black Bear 4-H Club, of which Cappelle is a member.

Shawn Hansen, of The Outreach Program, surprised Cappelle with the honor, praising her for her love, energy and spirit every time she volunteers at The Outreach Program.
