Pine River-Backus Family Center: Year in reflection
As the year closes, the Pine River-Backus Family Center becomes reflective on what the world around us looks like. Have we progressed or regressed? With our programming, did we make a difference in 2018, and what are our goals in 2019? New challenges await us while the challenges introduced in 2018 are still before us.
The depth and extent of the impact of the opioid crisis in our communities is still being dissected while frameworks are being built to do the prevention work under Richie's leadership.
Heather from the Working Together Coalition is still reaching out for coalition members (you!) to help her with executing programming to reduce our teen's alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse.
Alex from Home Visiting is walking alongside new moms and dads who are expecting or recently had new babies to ensure a great start in life for them.
The food shelf is growing in new clientele. The work to assure clients have the healthiest food choices and that the volunteers who run the show have a happy experience all happens under the watchful eye of Jodi.
Karen is the welcoming committee at the front desk and can direct people to their needed resources all while running several programs on her own. Young families are encouraged with Early Learning Visits provided by Connie.
And, magically, the funding is found and the needs of each department are strategically planned and coordinated under the great leadership of our ship's commander, Leslie.
The board of directors acts as oversight of the family center.
However, none of this could even be a possibility without the direct and generous support of our community with funding, food and gift donations and especially encouragement. We can make a difference because your caring makes a difference in uplifting families.
