4 area organizations to receive grants
Four organizations in Brainerd, Baxter, Merrifield and Cass Lake recently received grants from a St. Paul-based private charitable trust.
The Otto Bremer Trust awarded $50,000 to Sexual Assault Services Inc. of Brainerd for general operations to provide services for victims of sexual assault, and to offer education and prevention programs in Crow Wing County.
The Lakes Area Interfaith Caregivers of Baxter received $15,000 for general operations to provide transportation and home services to low-income seniors and persons with disabilities, so that they may remain safely at home.
A $17,200 grant was awarded to Mission Township Firefighters Relief Association in Merrifield for capital equipment for the Mission Township Fire Department to purchase battery-operated
extrication tools for vehicle emergencies.
And the Boys & Girls Club of the Leech Lake Area in Cass Lake received $72,000 for general operations to support out-of-school-time programs, summer meals and youth development.
The Otto Bremer Trust awarded $9,830,155 in grants as part of its most recent grantmaking cycle.
The trust was established in 1944 by founder Otto Bremer, a banker and business leader. The Otto Bremer Trust owns 92 percent of Bremer Bank and also manages a diversified investment portfolio.
